Harris moves to Citroën for 2015
Last years Championship runner up, Steve Harris will swap his Ford Focus for a Citroën DS3 to tackle this seasons MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with the Shannon Group.
Harris, one of the most popular competitors in the paddock will team up with Pat Doran in a two-car team for this seasons newly revamped series. He has purchased the car that Doran drove on occasions last year and it will be run in conjunction between SH Racing and LD Motorsport.
The aim is to tackle the full British Championship, though Harris did not rule out the odd foray into the World Rallycross during the course of the year. Speaking to British Rallycross he said "The idea is to contest the full British Championship this year, but we may also look at taking part in one or two of the World rounds too. Lydden is an obvious one, but we would look at a few others as well."
Harris began his Rallycross career in the RX150 buggies, before moving into Supercars and has been a familiar face on the scene for nearly ten years. For Harris the British Rallycross scene is very much a family affair, with sons Brett and Jake regular competitors in the RX150's over the years.
This year it is hoped that Brett will have a new buggy, while Jake will tackle some rounds in a Suzuki Swift, but there are very strong rumours that he could also be taking part in the Ford Focus Supercar that Steve drove to success last year.
Harris was quick to pay tribute to his team and told British Rallycross "I have to thank the guys, Danny, Jamie, Mick and Bob and Jayne too, she is a star, as they work so hard in the background all the time, and with Brett and Jake kinda sorted for this year, it looks like it will be a busy one for all of us."
Asked about this years Championship Harris added "The organisers have worked really hard to put this years series together, and while my favourite circuit is Lydden, I think there are a lot of us really looking forward to getting to Mondello Park again, its another great circuit and there is always a good welcome for us in Ireland."
