Taylor joins Power Maxed Racing for British RX Swift Sport campaign
Following the announcement that Dave Newsham will race for Power Maxed Racing in the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with Odyssey Battery this season, Jake Taylor has today revealed he will also join the team in a Swift Sport category car.
Taylor, 18, finished sixth overall in the Swift Sport class last season, his first campaign since moving up from the MSA Junior Rallycross Championship, where he finished third in 2014. Taylor increased his pace throughout the season last year and finished on the podium at the final round at Croft in October. “I’m very much looking forward to this season, and I’m very grateful for this new opportunity with the Power Maxed team. The team is very experienced, that’s crucial for me to build on the strong foundations from last year and continue to develop my race craft and other areas,” said Taylor, who is part of the MSA Academy.
The Retford-based driver is looking forward to opening his championship account at Croft next month. “I’m aiming for more podiums this year, and hopefully a win. If we could get a win, that would be fantastic. Croft is a circuit that very much suits me. I’ve had some great previous experiences there, there is a real buzz about the place.”
Power Maxed Racing owner Adam Weaver is looking forward to working with Taylor this season. “I’m delighted that we have been able to select Jake for the Power Maxed Racing seat in the Swift Sport championship. He’s a great all-rounder both on and off track. Not only does Jake show promise behind the wheel in British Rallycross, but he also knows how to look after his sponsors by activating their brands, and providing a major return on investment. That is crucial to being a racing driver.”
The opening round of the MSA British Rallycross Championship takes place at Croft Circuit, North Yorkshire on March 6. Find out more about the event here.
