British and European Rallycross Championship competitor Ollie O’Donovan will contest the final round of the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with the Shannon Group at Croft this Saturday, and the MSA British Rallycross Grand Prix on Sunday.

The London-based Irishman, who currently lies third in the British Championship Supercar standings, will race his Ford Focus Supercar Croft. O’Donovan enters into the season closer with a trio of brilliant results behind him in the last three events; a pair of final finishes with a best result of fourth in the previous two rounds of the FIA European Rallycross Championship in Norway and Spain sandwiching victory at the penultimate round of the British Championship at Lydden Hill.

O’Donovan is planning to consolidate his podium position in the British Championship standings on Saturday, before focusing on trying to win the Rallycross Grand Prix for the first time on Sunday.

“I’m looking forward to driving the Focus again, it’s still a competitive car. I won the last round of the British Championship at Croft with the Focus last year. It would be crazy for us to use our Ford Fiesta when the final round of the European Championship is the following weekend and the truck leaves for Italy on Monday. At Croft, I’m going to try and preserve the car on Saturday because I want to have the best chance of winning the Grand Prix on the Sunday. I’ve been close a few times but never won it and I want to get my name on that trophy,” said the Yokohama-backed driver.

“We just want to protect our podium position in the championship really on Saturday, Julian [Godfrey] and Andy [Scott] would have to have problems for us to move up a position in the championship, but I hope neither of them do. I want it to be a straight fight between them for the championship. I’m out of that fight realistically, so I wouldn’t want to spoil it for them.”

Also racing under the Team RX Racing banner at Croft will be Mitsubishi Evo X driver Steve Hill, who also works as co-ordinator for the team at Euro RX events. Chief engineer Tony Bardy will miss the Croft event as he competes on the Tour of Mull rally in a Ford Focus World Rally Car. Team RX Racing wish Bardy well for his return behind the wheel.

Action at Croft gets underway at 0900 on Saturday 10 October, while those unable to attend the event can watch the action unfold on livestream.
