5 Nations BRX Supernational category set for 2024 resurgence with exciting entry
The class, the ultimate in two-wheel-drive Rallycross cars, is steeped in history, with the DNA of the category able to be traced back to the very birth of the sport at Lydden Hill in 1967.
Enjoyed by competitors and fans alike for its diversity in car models, powertrains used and the innovative engineering on display in a category that remains relatively open with regards to the technical regulations – the main premise that cars are two-wheel-drive with the engine housed in the original location as the mass-produced vehicle, and the engine having the same number of cylinders as standard.
For 2024, a number of former competitors are set to return, along with several new faces with a wide range of machinery joining the ranks, while 5 Nations BRX organisers have established new awards. The overall Supernational category continues to be recognised, but 5 Nations BRX will also award the top three front and rear wheel drive competitors at each event, and with championship standings published through the season, will award the top three front and rear wheel drive competitors at the end of the year too.
Reigning champion Slawomir Woloch will defend his crown with his BMW M3, and will face stiff opposition from former champion and reigning Irish title-winner Jason Bleasdale (VX220), the latter part of a two-car team with brother Darren Bleasdale (VX220). Set for a full campaign with his stunning Mercedes SLK, Richard Moore hopes to have the gremlins of his maiden events with the car well behind him.
Former Junior RX champion Sam Jones has also committed to a full season with a revised front-wheel-drive Suzuki Swift, while fellow front-wheel-drive campaigners Fred Ling (Ford Fiesta), Honda Civic driver James Avison and Vauxhall Corsa racer Paul Coney plan to compete at all of the UK mainland events, at Lydden Hill and Pembrey
Belgian racer Dave Van Beers (Renault Clio) and Lydden Hill local Darren Scott (Citroen C2) will race at all of the Kent-based rounds this season, where for the August and November events, they will be joined by Todd Crooks with his BMW Mini, the latter racing in the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship in 2024 and making the most of the joint event with 5 Nations BRX in August.
In an exciting twist, the multiple title-winning Ovenden Motorsport Renault Clio V6 will return to 5 Nations BRX in 2024 for a yet-to-be determined number of events, along with a number of other competitors.

Drew Furlong, 5 Nations BRX Championship Manager:
“We are very excited that Supernational will feature a bigger and better entry in 2024, and we must thank the competitors for committing to the category. We have listened to feedback with regards to how trophies and points are awarded and hope that >span class="NormalTextRun SCXW59619394 BCX4">will encourage battles for front and rear wheel drive honours as well as the overall results. It will be a pleasure to see a wide variety of cars in action in the class once again when the season kicks off in just a few weeks time at Lydden Hill.”
