British Rallycross positive to new deal
Following last Fridays surprise announcement that an agreement had been reached between BARC and LHMC to spearhead the promotion and operation of the MSA British Rallycross Championship and the MSA British Rallycross Grand Prix for the next three years, the move delighted some of the competitors at Croft last weekend.
Croft, saw the final round of the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with the Shannon Group being run on the Saturday, with Sunday given over to the traditional and very popular MSA British Rallycross Grand Prix.
The new deal that secures the future of British Rallycross was the talk of the paddock with familiar names expressing delight at the news.
For former British Champion Pat Doran, who was competing in a Suzuki Swift it was good news on the future and he said “BARC bring a wealth of experience of running major Championships, while LHMC have competitors on board and I think it will really work very well. Its gotta be onwards and upwards from here and I am really look forward to it.”
For LHMC Club Secretary, Stuart Emery who became the 2014 MSA Supernational Champion at Croft, he too was very positive on the news and said “I think having the knowledge gained by the LHMC committee this year, allied to the BARC organisation, which is unquestionable, can only be good news for the sport and the drivers for the next three years.’
Similar thoughts were echoed by Graham Rodemark, the 2013 Swift Sport Champion who told British Rallycross “Its going to be a good thing, we can plan ahead now and move forward with this news. There are a lot of young drivers coming into the sport and its means we can all plan long term for the future, something in the past that was not always possible.”
Over the weekend, there was much discussion about the new deal and the fact that drivers can now talk to potential sponsors over a much longer term, with stability and planning the main benefit for everyone involved, and the new 2104 Hot Hatch Champion Craig Lomax echoed most peoples thoughts when he said “People can now put a three year plan together, because we know its gonna happen, and we can now promote the drivers and the sport so much better. It allows us to deliver a much better package to the partners we already have that support us, its really good.”
