Jenson Button is synonymous with the sport of Formula 1 and with the name McLaren over the last number of years. He recently tried his hand at the sport of Rallycross, the sport that got him into Motorsport.

Watch here as Jenson and David, not only sample Dave Harrold’s VW Beetle but also get behind the wheel of Citroën DS3 and the JRM Mini World Rallycross car.

Despite attending many Rallycross events with his late Father, it was the first time that Jenson had been to Lydden Hill and joined by John’s friend Shirley Gibson it provided the perfect opportunity to take a trip down memory lane.

The VW Beetle is of course a car that JB Snr used in those early years. His exploits saw him battle against the very car that James Harrold competes in; the car has remained in the Harrold family ownership since being driven by his uncle, the late Peter Harrold. John Button and Peter Harrold were friends both on and off the track, which made the choice of Retro Rallycross car for Jenson’s use especially appropriate.
