Calendar released for 5 Nations BRX 2022
The provisional 2022 Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy Presented by Cooper Tires calendar has today (December 16) been released by the promoter, 5 Nations BRX.
The action will get underway at the iconic Home of Rallycross Lydden Hill, England, making a welcome return to its traditional date over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. The double header event will take place on Saturday April 16 and Monday 18, offering two standalone days of race action at the popular Kent track.
The championship then moves onto Wales for the first of two double-header appearances at the Pembrey circuit. A popular track for many, and scene of some incredible battles in previous seasons, the two rounds will take place on May 14 & 15.
June marks the long-awaited return of Mondello Park, Ireland onto the calendar after the past two years were curtailed by Covid travel restrictions. Hopes are high that for 2022 the 5 Nations BRX drivers will finally get the chance to go head-to-head with the Irish Rallycross contingent when both championships take place on June 4 & 5.
Pembrey will play host to the championship over two days across the August Bank Holiday weekend, following a successful introduction this year. Saturday 27 August and Monday 29 will both feature rounds of all classes as we head into the final showdown.
The season will conclude with the final rounds at Lydden Hill over the weekend of November 5 & 6, which will once again feature racing under floodlights and a firework spectacular on the Saturday. Due to the circuit’ shorter Sunday curfew the event will feature a double-header of Supercar action, and the final round of the other classes held over the two days.
Hannah Rynston, Championship Co-ordinator:
“We are finally able to release our provisional calendar for 2022. We always work alongside other championships to ensure there is no clash, as several of our competitors also contest European and World rounds and we are keen to help our loyal supporters as much as we can. We are currently in talks with several overseas circuits to look at arranging a round in July, which being held so close to Mondello Park will reduce competitors’ carnet costs. We hope to come to an agreement with a suitable circuit and confirm the date and venue in the coming weeks.”
