Croft ready for Championship finale and the MSA Rallycross GP
Next month will see the Croft circuit in North Yorkshire host the final round of this years MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with the Shannon Group, as well as the season ending spectacular the MSA Rallycross Grand Prix.
With over sixty entries to date, the weekend is shaping up to be one of the most competitive and eagerly awaited all year when the action begins at Croft on Saturday October 18th and then the MSA Rallycross Grand Prix on Sunday 19th October.
At a circuit with good access, the spectators surround the track perimeter on both days, with the erratic weather sometimes helping to ensure dramatic action throughout the two days as well as allowing great driver and team access in the paddock.
Already confirmed for the MSA Supercar class in association with Odyssey Battery are the likes of Steve Harris in the Ford Focus, Steve Hill in the Mitsubishi and Simon Horton in the Subaru, not to mention Ollie O’Donovan in the ex Kevin Procter Ford Focus.
The MSA Supernational sees the likes of Dave and Paige Bellerby add local interest in the Lotus Exige, while Stuart Emery makes the journey to Yorkshire from Kent in the Peugeot 206.
Another Bellerby, namely Drew will feature in the MSA Junior alongside Charlie Bean, while David Bell and Rebecca Ryder will battle for honours in the BMW Mini to name but a few.
There is a substantial entry list in for the Suzuki Swifts, while the RX150’s are set to entertain once again as well as the Hot Hatch too.
The ever-popular Retro Rallycross teams will be present at Croft, with MG Metro 6R4’s, RS200’s and Mini’s all on the entry list. This series has grown not only in stature over the year, but also in popularity too, a favourite with all Rallycross fans in the paddock.
For LHMC Club Chairman Steve Hill, the culmination of this years Championship is one he is looking forward to and said this week “It has been a very good season for British Rallycross, and with the live streaming at each event, it has brought the sport to more people, and that has been reflected in the numbers we have seen at the events this year. There is always a party feel to Croft at the end of the year, and everyone is really looking forward to a very good weekend.”
