Doran signs with Komatsu, ION and Method Wheels
Liam Doran and LD Motorsports are hugely excited to announce new sponsorship agreements with breakthrough action sports camera brand ION, US-based Method Race Wheels, and Japanese industrial machinery giant Komatsu Ltd, for the 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship.
The diverse range of global sponsors comes in addition to new-for-2104 deals with motorsport industry leaders Pro Bolt, Super B Performance Batteries, HCI Systems Ltd and XS Wraps.
“Having such high profile companies come onboard this season is hugely exciting,”said LD Motorsports Team boss Liam Doran. “Rallycross is an incredibly fast and aggressive sport, and we need the best possible products and support to have a chance of winning. We have been lucky to work with some fantastic companies so far, and the deals this season undoubtedly make my job of pushing the team and making the car faster much easier.
“Ion is an up and coming brand working in a very competitive industry. Obviously most people will be aware of the other huge action sports camera brands, but with Ion I’m really excited to be one of the first guys to stand apart and do something a little different. Their products are fantastic, and the first ever World Rallycross Championship is going to be a massive opportunity to produce exciting content.
“Method Race Wheels are a huge company in the US, but haven’t got much publicity in Europe yet, so it’s awesome to be chosen to help the business spread their wings. The guys at Method have a huge amount of experience with producing wheels for off-road racing. Their wheels are used by a couple of other Monster Energy drivers like BJ [Baldwin] and Johnny & CJ Greaves, so can take a serious beating. We are working closely with the staff at their factory in California to develop specific Rallycross wheels, and I can’t wait to debut them this year.
“It’s a great testament to how much Rallycross is growing to be able to have an organisation like Komatsu join the team as a sponsor. They’ve sponsored teams in other high level championships like Formula One, NASCAR and Australian V8 Supercar in the past, so to bring the business to Rallycross is a big honour.
“On top of these three huge signings, we have also got some of the leading names in motorsport engineering joining us. Probolt are simply the best bolt supplier in the world for lightweight titanium bolts, and Super B manufacture the best motorsport batteries. HCI Systems are an ex-Formula One company that design and manufacture looms and electronics. It’s an absolutely incredible combination of sponsors.
“The team has also joined forces with a new vinyl and car wrap sponsors - XS Wraps. The cars are constantly getting shredded to pieces, so it’s a big job keeping them looking as good as they do.”
Liam Doran and LD Motorsports will be at the Lydden Hill race circuit in Kent for a media open day on April 15th, ahead of the official FIA World Rallycross Championship pre-season test at Franciacorta in Italy on the 22/23 April.
