Gamble takes runner up spot at Pembrey
Mark Gamble made a fantastic British Rallycross debut at the weekend, where he finished a very credible second place in the Super 1600 category at the South Wales, Pembrey circuit.
With strong heat results through the day, Gamble had a daylong battle with Craig Lomax, one that kept the crowds entertained each time they took to the track.
Gamble was pleased with the Pembrey result in the Suzuki Swift S1600 not having competed there before.
The Kumho Tyres backed driver lead the S1600 final from the start, heading front runner and main rival; Craig Lomax. As the car started to overheat, it allowed Lomax to catch up, but Gamble still held on to take second place in the Jam Motorsport ran Suzuki Swift.
Mark was very pleased with his and the teams work at the weekend and said “It was a positive weekend, I learnt a lot, I underestimated Rallycross, and how nerve racking it is lining up next to your rivals, compared to the format of rallying. The car was fantastic, but I changed tyre compound for the final, which was a great move and I was challenging the regulars, leading the race, until the engine went into security mode loosing all power. But I’m over the moon to come away with 2nd in a sport that is brand new to me. I enjoyed and relished the challenge, and would like to come back for another go sometime, but at the moment rallying is my main priority.”
