Jack Thorne switches to Peugeot 208 for 5 Nations BRX
The Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy Presented by Cooper Tires holds its penultimate round at Lydden Hill over the weekend of 6 & 7 November with interest in the headline Supercar class hotting up.
Making a welcome return to Supercar competition is double Super 1600 Champion Jack Thorne, who has purchased the Peugeot 208 RX Supercar of Andy Scott. British champion in 2014 and 2018, Jack also competed in Euro RX S1600 in 2019 and on his last appearance in the headline class at Lydden in 2019 finished a creditable second to eventual champion Julian Godfrey.
A stellar line-up that includes six-time champion Godfrey, triple Supernational champion Tristan Ovenden, 2007 champion Ollie O’Donovan and double race winner Roberts Vitols will battle for honours across two rounds of Supercar action.
“I’m really excited to finally be getting back into rallycross at Lydden in a couple of weeks, it’s been a long time coming.,” said Jack. “This event will be pretty much a shakedown as I’ve not raced since 2019, however I know the Andy Scott Peugeot 208 will be a great car. I really like Lydden Hill, I’ve had a lot of success there in the past including second last time out, so I can’t wait to get back and see all the family.”
Visitors to Lydden Hill, Kent will enjoy racing in darkness under floodlights on Saturday 6th November, concluding with fireworks. Saturday afternoon only tickets will also be available for those wishing to see just the racing under floodlights and fireworks. All ticket holders will have full access to the paddock, children’s entertainment, food and bars that will be available on both the Saturday and Sunday. Subject to prevailing covid rules, full paddock access will be available to all spectators.
Saturday’s race action will run from approximately 9am to 5.45pm, with racing into the dark under flood lights. Fireworks will follow at approximately 5.45pm. Sunday’s action will be entirely in daylight from approximately 10.30 am to 4pm.
