Lomax and Citroën on song at Pembrey
Craig Lomax and his XtremeRX team travelled to Pembrey for the third round of the 2015 MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with the Shannon Group, aiming to extend their lead in the Championship.
With starts in all three heats from the second row of the grid, it left the Baxi Avanta driver a lot to do, but with continual improvements made to his Citroën S1600 over the last three rounds, his job was made a lot easier by the work done by the team.
Lomax took three heat wins, and fastest in the third heat that gave him pole position for the Final.
On pole for the final, it was fellow Citroën driver, Mark Gamble that got into the first corner with a narrow lead. Lomax took his joker on the second lap and then set about chasing the leader. When Gamble eventually did take his joker, it left Lomax with a chance to pass him for the lead, which he did and then held on for victory.
For Lomax it was the right result for all the hard work his team have put in over the last few months and he said “After all the hard work that we as a team have been doing on developing the car with our sponsors when it all starts to go right it makes the win even sweeter. Believe me there’s still more to come!”
The championship now heads to Mondello Park in Ireland for a double header on 27th and 28th June.
