Lomax targets British RX Super1600 title
Former Super1600 Rallycross Champion Craig Lomax will return to the MSA British Rallycross Championship category this season and is targeting the championship title.
Racing a Citroen C2, Lomax claimed the Super1600 crown in 2015 but was blighted by mechanical drama last season. “We’re doing the full year in British RX, and the plan is to fight for the title. We’ve done a lot of work to the car over the winter and hopefully we have solved all of our problems from last year,” he said.
Vauxhall Corsa driver Paul Coney claimed the Super1600 title last season. “It looks like there will be a competitive amount of Super1600 cars this year and I’m looking forward to a good battle. We’re also planning to go and race in some Belgian Championship events, but the main target is to try and win in the British Championship. We’ve got some new sponsors on board for this year too, including Liqui Moly and Youth Energy drink. We are excited to get the season underway. It’s been a long winter of late nights getting the car and its new developments sorted so the energy drinks have been going down a treat.”
The Xtreme RX team launched its new livery at the North West Stages Rally in Blackpool today (Friday, February 24) and is joined at the show by MSA Supernational Rallycross Champion Tony Lynch’s 2015 BMW Mini, Stewart Bowes’ Retro Rallycross Mini Clubman and a Swift Sport Rallycross Championship Suzuki Swift.
