Lynch returns to Supernational to defend crown
Reigning MSA Supernational Rallycross champion Tony Lynch will return to the Championship this season to defend his crown.
Multiple rallycross champion Lynch switched to a Ford KA for 2016 with his Team Geriatric squad and won three events on his way to the title, in his second year in the category.
The team’s KA has undergone extensive preparation over the winter ahead of the 2017 campaign. “We’ve put a lot of work in over the winter to make sure that we could return in 2017, and I have to give massive thanks to the sponsors who continue to support me as without them, it wouldn’t have been possible,” said Lynch. “There’s no doubt that we go into the new season on a huge high given how 2016 panned out, as we honestly didn’t expect to be ending the year as champions in our first year with the KA. Having won the title, we are now the team that everyone wants to beat, but we are ready for the challenge that comes with that and I’m confident that we’ll be right in the mix again this year.”
Lynch will face stiff opposition for the Supernational crown in 2017 from event winners Paige Bellerby (Lotus Exige) and Guy Corner (Peugeot 206) amongst others, including category newcomer Tristan Ovenden, who will compete in an ex-Jamie Bird championship winning Renault Clio V6. “I’m very lucky to have such a hardworking and dedicated team behind me,” continued Lynch. “They have all worked hard over the winter to improve the car to give us the best chance of success. I can’t wait for the new season to get underway at Croft.”
