Lynch seeks to maintain top six slot in finale
Wigan racer Tony Lynch will seek to maintain his impressive championship placing when the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with the Shannon Group heads to Croft for the final round of the 2015 season.
Westhoughton-based Tony makes the trip across the Pennines to North Yorkshire looking to end his Super National Class campaign on a positive note, with confidence high heading to a venue where he took an impressive fourth place finish in the opening round of the year.
Despite still being in the midst of a lengthy development programme, Tony then went on to secure a stunning victory at Mondello Park that showcased the potential of his Lucas Oil Team Geriatric MINI Cooper S; bringing himself firmly into contention for the Super National crown.
Whilst issues at both Pembrey and Lydden Hill in the events that followed saw him lose ground in the title race, Tony remains well in the mix for a top six championship finish and could mathematically still make it into the top three, making a strong performance on track vital in the last event of the year.
With that in mind, the team has worked hard to ensure that the MINI is in perfect shape for the weekend ahead, with Tony hoping to reward them with a solid result on track.
“This season was all about continuing to develop the MINI and it’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride with ups and downs along the way,” he said. “The last few events have been a bit of a low for us after the unexpected victory at Mondello Park and it’s important for us to get a good result this weekend to head into the winter on a high.
“Croft was a circuit where we went well at the start of the year, but we’ve worked hard since then to improve the MINI and it will be interesting to see what impact those changes have when we return.
“While we could still finish in the top three in the Super National Class, we know it will be a tall order with the points as they are and a top six is a more realistic aim. However, that won’t stop me pushing as hard as I can and what will be, will be.”
