MMS RX TEAM IRL formed as Donoghue joins McCluskey for full 5 Nations BRX effort
New York-based Gary Donoghue has committed to a full 2025 Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy campaign and will partner fellow Irishman John McCluskey in the newly-formed MMS RX TEAM IRL squad.
Rally and rallycross driver Donoghue is a regular coopetitor and event-winner in North American rally events, but switched to rallycross in 2023 racing an OlsbergsMSE-built Ford Fiesta Supercar.
Having made his debut in the Irish Rallycross Championship, he expanded to race in 5 Nations BRX and RallyX events last season, improving his performances to be a regular front runner in a selected campaign, achieving a best result of fourth in the penultimate 5 Nations BRX round at Lydden Hill.
Donoghue got his 2025 campaign underway with a maiden Supercar final victory at Mondello Park last month in the IRX series, and has now committed to join event-winner McCluskey in the new MMS RX TEAM IRL squad operated by experienced Dublin-based preparation outfit Murray Motorsport for a 5 Nations BRX effort.
Continuing to field his OMSE Fiesta, previously campaigned by the likes of Andreas Eriksson, David Binks, Peter Hedstrom and others, Donoghue plans to contest the full 11-round 5 Nations BRX Supercar season through events in England, Ireland, Wales and France.
Gary Donoghue:
“I switched to the car being run by Murray Motorsport at the end of last year for the final weekend of 5 Nations BRX at Lydden Hill, and we were very happy with our pace and the times we set. The plan is to do the full championship this season. With about eight weekends in the car over the past two years under my belt, this is very exciting for me. Murray Motorsport have been through the car over the winter and made some small upgrades, and we had a good shake down in the Irish Championship at Mondello recently, where we had a few teething troubles but were very happy to come out on top of the Supercar final on the Sunday. I’m excited to get back in the car at Lydden Hill and to line up with John in our new team. Obviously winning the championship is the goal, but the plan is to be racing at the top each weekend and hopefully be in with a shot at the end of the year.”
