Odyssey Battery powers Junior Rallycross in 2016
Competitors in the MSA Junior Rallycross Championship will benefit from a fantastic prize initiative introduced by the title sponsor Odyssey Battery this season.
Together with parent company Enersys, Odyssey Battery has announced that all Junior entry fees will be covered at the first round the British Championship next month at Croft Circuit (March 6), then the top three from each event through the year will have their entry fees for the next event paid.
The scheme has been developed to help Junior drivers make a start in rallycross. “British Rallycross is a family affair. For me, we need to encourage more people to come into this sport, and my belief is we should do that with the Junior category. The Juniors are very important to our sport. We will pay the entry fee for every Junior car at Croft,” said Odyssey Battery Sales Director, Chris Pretty “Also, the top three from every race meeting in the Junior class will have their entry fee for the next race meeting paid. So, if a driver finishes in the top three at every event this season, they have a free entry all season.”
Recently appointed Championship Manager, Tim Whittington, is delighted with the boost to the Junior category. “It’s great to have Odyssey Battery as sponsor of the MSA British Rallycross Championship and very exciting to work with a company that has a passion help us develop the championship,” said Whittington. “Junior Rallycross has consistently produced young drivers who have gone to success in rallycross, racing and rallies, so the initiative to support young talent in the MSA Junior Rallycross Championship is a welcome addition and one that will directly benefit those taking part.”
The eight-event Junior series runs alongside the MSA British Rallycross Championship but will include a double-header at Lydden on March 27-28 as Junior drivers are not eligible to race in the senior championship’s Belgian event in July.
