Ovenden Jnr set to join MSUK Junior ranks at 5 Nations BRX
Will Ovenden the latest in the family to switch to rallycross
14 year-old set to join the MSUK Junior Rallycross Championship
Karter will drive the 1.3 litre Swift of reigning champ brother Tom
Will Ovenden, youngest son of triple Supernational champion and Supercar front-runner Tristan Ovenden will make his rallycross debut in the MSUK Junior Rallycross Championship at Lydden Hill on 29 May. The 14 year-old will take over the wheel of the 1.3 litre Swift of reigning champion, and Will’s older brother Tom in the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy Presented by Cooper Tires.
Will began his motorsport career in schoolboy Motocross aged just six years old before moving to karting when he was 10 at tracks including Bayford Meadows and Buckmore Park. The current Int Circuit Lights Class lap record holder at Buckmore, Will was Junior Corporate Kart Champion in 2018. When he was 12 Will moved into Junior Saloon Autograss at his local Invicta Kent Autograss Club but has never been far away from a rallycross paddock where he’s always supported his father and older brother.
Now Will joins the elite of British Rallycross drivers when he makes his race debut at his local track Lydden Hill, looking to emulate the success of his brother Tom and uphold Ovenden family honours. “I’ve been around the rallycross circuit for 10 years or more with my dad and brother and have always enjoyed the close racing and the family-feel to the sport. After so long on the sidelines, I'm really looking forward to actually racing in rallycross.”
