Procter wins at Croft, Godfrey is British Champion again
Kevin Procter won the final round of this years MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with the Shannon Group today at Croft in North Yorkshire. He headed home the Peugeot 208 of Albatec Team Racing boss Andy Scott by just over two seconds.
Third went to Andy Grant in his Ford Focus with the newly crowned British Champion Godfrey taking fourth in his Ford Fiesta. Steve Hill was fifth in the Mitsubishi and Mad Mark brought his Citroën Xsara home in sixth place. Ollie O’Donovan ran home seventh in his Ford Focus.
Procter was on pole with Scott and Grant joining him on the front row. From the lights the Yorkshire man took the lead from Grant with Scott and Godfrey battling for third and fourth respectively. From here Procter was able to keep his advantage all the way to the flag over the six lap final, but Scott did manage to get close on occasions once he got past Grant.
The duo stretched out that lead, with Grant and Godfrey now battling for third overall, with Hill fifth and O’Donovan in sixth.
Procter took the chequered flag and won his home event, with Scott second and Grant third.
There was much to cheer for Godfrey who said at the finish “Its great to win the title again, and get on a par with Dermot Carnegie with the title wins. It has been a hard day here at Croft but we are delighted with the win and will be aiming to do well at the MSA Grand Prix tomorrow.”
Procter was naturally delighted to take the win and said “Its been a good day, and great to win close to home. It was a great race with Andy and congratulations have to go to Julian who has won another title.”
