Procter wins British RX round three at Pembrey
Kevin Procter won the third round of the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with ODYSSEY Battery at Pembrey Circuit, which for the first time was run in the opposite direction to the layout traditionally used at the Welsh venue
Run in challenging wet conditions, Procter won the Supercar final ahead of Dan Rooke and Dave Bellerby, Procter retaking the championship lead in the process with Rooke and Bellerby now second and third in the points. Procter started on the second row of the grid, behind Julian Godfrey, Rooke and Bellerby, but took the lead on the loose section on lap one. Rooke ran wide, Bellerby moving up to second for much of the race before losing the position to LD Motorsports driver Rooke on the third lap.
Godfrey dropped to the back of the pack but fought back to finish fourth with Pat Doran fifth, Jack Thorne sixth and Andy Grant seventh. Simon Horton made it into the final when Steve Hill’s Mitsubishi wouldn’t start in the pre-grid area, but retired from the final. Power Maxed Racing driver Dave Newsham retired in the semi-finals, as did Steve Harris. James Grint was forced out of the event with engine problems in practice.
Guy Corner won the MSA Supernational Rallycross Championship final, the result declared on count-back to after one lap. Mike Howlin finished second with Tony Lynch third. Supernational championship leader heading into the event, Paige Bellerby, didn’t make it into the final following a spin in the semi-finals. Tom Llewellin won the MSA Junior Rallycross Championship final on his first ever rallycross start, ahead of championship leader Sam Jones and Matt Rainbow.
RX150 Rallycross Championship leader Chrissy Palmer claimed victory in the category final, Phil Chicken won in the Super1600 Rallycross Championship, Graham Rumsey scored his first win in the Hot Hatch Rallycross Championship and Keifer Hudson won in the BMW Mini Rallycross Championship. Nathan Heathcote was victorious in the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship and Barry Stewart won on his return to the Retro Rallycross Championship.
