Double RX150 champion Marc Scott put a troubled round one of the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with the Shannon Group at Croft behind him by claiming victory at the second instalment of the series at Lydden Hill.

The event was the first time Scott had raced the 2015 upgraded RX150 specification buggy - an experience he clearly enjoyed - but it was Chrissy Palmer who lined up on pole position for the final thanks to setting fastest times in the first and third heat races. The pair were joined on the front row by Stephen Jones, having an excellent event.

Scott made the best start in the final and led the race from lights to flag, chased by Palmer and Jones. Richard Moore had another strong outing. He started fourth and remained in the position to the finish.

Brett Harris made it into the final despite troubles in the heats and finished fifth, progressively pulling away from the battle behind between father and son pairing Larry and Adam Sargent and debutant Mitchell Flaherty. Adam Sargent came out on top to claim sixth, Flaherty finished seventh with Larry Sargent rounding out the final.

Top qualifier not to make the final was British Touring Car Championship star Tom Ingram. Making his first appearance in the sport, Ingram had to share his buggy with Tom O’Rourke following engine troubles for O’Rourke’s machine in the lead up to the event. Despite his inexperience of the RX150s, Ingram set third fastest time in the first heat race, but was forced out after O’Rourke suffered clutch problems in his second heat race.

Scottish rally driver Murray Coulthard was among the most spectacular drivers in any category at the Lydden Hill event, but was only able to complete one heat time and didn’t make it to the final. RX150 regular Kevin Feeney suffered accident damage in heat two and was unable to continue in the days proceedings, having earlier set fourth fastest time in heat one.

The next round of the MSA British Rallycross Championship takes place at Pembrey, South Wales on 10th May.
