Supernational racer Lynch to make circuit racing debut
Supernational Rallycross Championship competitor Tony Lynch will make his circuit racing debut one week before the third and fourth rounds of the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with ODYSSEY Battery at Pembrey, South Wales.
Lynch will compete in the opening rounds of the MINI Challenge this weekend at Donington Park, following a deal with Mintech Spares, who Lynch worked with when he campaigned a Mini Cooper S in British RX last season.
“Ever since I started competing, it’s always been on loose surfaces, either in rallying or in rallycross where I’ve enjoyed much of my success. I’ve always wondered how I would do in circuit racing, so it’s great to have the opportunity to join the MINI Challenge grid at Donington Park and give it a go,” said Lynch, who is racing a Ford KA in the Supernational championship this season. He finished second at the second round of the championship at Lydden Hill last month and currently holds the same position in the championship.
“Whilst this is just a bit of fun for me as a one-off, I want to do a good job for the guys at Mintech Spares and hopefully I can bring home some good results,” he continued. “I’ll just have to remember not to take my usual racing lines as going sideways might look spectacular, but it won’t be the quickest way to approach the weekend.”
