Swift change of plan for Scott
For British Rallycross regular Darren Scott, it looks as though a move to new machinery is planned for later this year and into 2015.
With his regular Swiftsport Suzuki now up for sale or hire, the Sittingbourne based Scott spoke to British Rallycross earlier this week and said “I had hoped to do more Rallycross this year, but work has got so busy for us, that finding the time has been difficult. I have missed so many Rallycross events, and then sat looking at the car in the yard while events were taking place I decided to look at hiring it out if I wasn’t using it.”
The car is available to hire, while Scott ponders his next move in Rallycross, one that he told us is already well under way, and said “If someone wants to hire the car that’s great, but if someone wants to buy it, that’s even better. I am looking at Super1600 for later this year and for 2015, and have a test planned in a few weeks time in a well-known British Championship car. If that works out, the plan would be to contest next years British Championship in it, as well as a couple of the World Rallycross rounds that are local to me, such as Lydden Hill and perhaps Belgium.”
A regular competitor in the Swiftsport Championship for the last few years, Scott admits that the competition in the class is very tough and hard fought and added “It’s a great series, it really is, to get up on the grid and mix it with the likes of Tristan Ovenden, Rob Maynard and Graham Rodemark is brilliant. Every time you get to a round, and play with those boys where the racing is tough and hard, but very fair, its always an enjoyable day. That’s why I am looking forward to Pembrey now in a couple of weeks.”
