Taylor to make RX150 debut at Croft this weekend
Former MSA Junior Rallycross Championship driver Jake Taylor will make his debut in the RX150 Championship at Croft Circuit on Sunday.
Taylor will compete in the opening round of the Toyo Tires MSA British Rallycross Championship support category, and hopes to secure enough budget to complete the full season in the coming weeks.
The MSA Academy member has gained rallycross experience racing in the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship over the last two years, and finished on the podium at Croft in 2015. He tested an RX150 buggy for the first time recently. “I connected with the RX150 straight away, it feels raw. You can feel everything going on through the steering wheel and the seat. Every input needs to be very precise, which is what I love about it. It’s a challenge and one heck of a beast to tame. Pulling gear after gear and it keeps on going like nothing else I have ever driven,” said Taylor.
“I know this year is a huge step up for me, and one we have been working towards for three years at JT Motorsport. This will be my first season in rear-wheel drive with a new style gearbox and so much power in a machine that’s only seconds a lap off Supercar pace. Although I have no illusions about getting on the podium just yet (although it would be nice), this year is all about learning and improving my race craft and moving all that I do to the next level. I simply cannot wait for Croft and hopefully we can secure funding to complete the whole year.”
