Team Chicken are Lydden bound with a S1600
After some frustrating delays, Team Chicken has finally taken delivery of its new Citroen C2 S1600 Rallycross Car, built and prepared by Championship Winning Rallycross Team MB Motorsport (Jarrow)
The car, whic has been the subject of many delays was tested yesterday by 2008 British Rallycross Champion, Phil Chicken (Barnsley/Newcastle), at Teeside testing ground in preparation for the cars competitive debut this weekend at Rd 1 of the MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with The Shannon Group at Lydden Hill (Kent)
After 40 successful trouble free laps Phil was full of praise for the car and said
“It was awesome, but now my arms are tired as the car has so much grip with no power steering, but the car definitely has potential. “
Phil’s plan is to concentrate on the British championship, and select suitable events around Europe for 2014 to contest as well.
He went on to add “This year the S1600 class in Britain looks to be gaining strength, with 4 new British Cars for the first round at Lydden, so it’s going to be a hard learning year this year, and this weekend will be just about setting the car up, and the educating the driver”
And after this weekend the Phil and the team will sit down and see which extra events fit in with his busy work schedule. Obviously having a full European Spec car Phil has his eyes on events within the revamped FIA European Rallycross Championship and the Rallycross Challenge Championship.
