Welsh adventure for Lomax this weekend at Pembrey
Pembrey this weekend sees the fourth round of the 2014 MSA British Rallycross Championship in association with the Shannon Group take place, and Knottingley based competitor Craig Lomax, who has three wins from three outings so far this season is looking for number Four.
With victories in England, Scotland and over the Channel in Holland already, Lomax is aiming to add the South Wales venue of Pembrey to the collection this Sunday in his Xtreme Motorsport Citroën Saxo.
Since the last round at Knockhill back in May, the team have undertaken a huge amount of work on the car. The engine was not at its best at Knockhill and subsequent investigation revealed that the unit had ingested sand, when the car had an off at Valkenswaard in Holland. Impulse Developments rebuilt the unit afresh, and from there it was taken to Milltek Developments, where further work continued with the design and fitting of a new manifold, which has improved the figures on the engine substantially. More work is planned in due course with a view to the 2015 season, but Lomax is happy with how the car will be come Pembrey this weekend. As a final act of preparation Lomax took the car to TMS in Harrogate, where the tuning facilities allowed the Xtreme Motorsport team to further fine tune the engine management side, allowing a much friendly power band.
Speaking this week to British Rallycross Lomax said “I’m very grateful to all our partners for all their help in developing the car, and I think the lessons we have learnt this year will stand us well for our new Rallycross project in 2015, The things we are trying now, will also work on the new car for 2015. I cannot wait to try the extra power through Honda Curve at Pembrey, I think it will make it an interesting weekend.”
Lomax currently leads the Hot Hatch Championship by 21 points, from Tomasz Wielgosz, who has not entered this weekends round at Pembrey, so his nearest challenger will be Tomasz Marciniak, where they are hopeful of a good result that will take the pressure off the team as they plan to head to Lydden and Croft for the final rounds of the season.
This weekends action will be streamed live once again by British Rallycross and AMGTV and all the action can be found here.
